Weekend Index Trading Is Live: US30, GER40, FRA40 and UK100 Around the Clock
Traditional index futures shut Friday evening and do not reopen until Sunday night — 49 hours where the world's biggest equity benchmarks are frozen. US30, GER40, FRA40 and UK100 perpetuals on JTX Markets now trade the whole weekend.
Friday, 5:00 p.m. New York time. The bell rings, the CME index futures pit closes for the week, and a very specific kind of silence falls across US30, GER40, FRA40 and UK100. The Dow does not print. The DAX does not print. Neither does the CAC or the FTSE. For the next 49 hours, the world's most-watched risk barometers are frozen. No orderbook. No hedge. No exit.
Then the world keeps happening. Elections get called. Central bankers give weekend speeches. A pipeline goes down. A currency peg wobbles. By the time Sunday evening rolls around and the futures pit reopens, the news is 40 hours old and the gap is already priced in — into a market you couldn't touch.
We're closing that window. US30, GER40, FRA40 and UK100 perpetuals now trade 24/7 on JTX, including the full weekend, with live orderbooks and continuous price discovery. If you want to react to a Saturday headline on the Dow, or hedge a European book on Sunday afternoon, you can.
The blackout nobody talks about
Traditional index futures have a hard weekly stop. The CME's e-mini contracts on US indices close Friday 5:00 p.m. ET and don't reopen until Sunday 6:00 p.m. ET. Eurex, which lists the DAX and CAC futures, closes Friday evening local time and only comes back late Sunday night CET. The FTSE's ICE futures follow a similar rhythm.
That's roughly two full days a week — around 28% of the calendar — where the four biggest developed-market equity benchmarks simply do not have a tradeable price. If you're long European risk on a Friday afternoon and a story breaks on Saturday morning, your only options are to sweat until Sunday's open or try to proxy-hedge through whatever adjacent market still has a pulse. Usually that means crypto, gold, or FX — none of which are the thing you actually own.
Weekends are also when discretion-heavy events cluster: G7 statements, weekend summits, election results in Europe, surprise policy announcements. The market that most needs to be open is the one that's closed.
What "24/7 index perpetuals" actually means on JTX
The perpetual is a single continuously-quoted instrument. It doesn't expire. It doesn't roll. There's no Sunday reopen — because there was never a close. US30-PERP tracks the Dow, GER40-PERP tracks the DAX, FRA40-PERP tracks the CAC 40, and UK100-PERP tracks the FTSE 100.
During cash-market hours the mark is anchored tightly to the underlying — this is the easy part. The interesting question is how the weekend price is formed.
Our weekend mark is a composite:
- Friday cash close as the anchor.
- Overnight equity ETF flow where available (things like after-hours ETF prints during any electronic sessions).
- Correlated risk-asset moves — global majors that trade through the weekend and reflect risk-on / risk-off appetite. When BTC dumps 4% on a Sunday morning on macro news, that information doesn't stay in crypto; it belongs in the index.
- Live JTX orderbook flow — actual bids and offers from actual traders reacting to actual news. This is the honest price.
None of the above pretends to be a perfect proxy for a closed cash market. It's a discovery mechanism for the weekend, and by Monday morning when the underlying reopens, the mark converges back to the cash tape.
The honest bit: weekend spreads are wider
Market makers price risk. When the underlying cash market is closed and hedging is harder, they demand more premium to quote — same reason FX pairs widen at 5 p.m. ET on Friday. Expect spreads on the four index perps to be visibly wider from Friday close through Sunday evening, and to tighten back up when the cash markets return.
Size accordingly. A position that would slip a couple of ticks midweek can slip more on a thin Saturday book. Use limit orders, respect the spread, and if you're punching size, break it up. The position calculator will show you the margin math before you click.
A concrete example
It's Saturday, 9:47 a.m. UK time. A story breaks: an unexpected weekend statement out of the UK government moves the pound and puts material pressure on FTSE-listed exporters.
Traditional futures trader: watches Bloomberg. Cannot trade the FTSE future until Sunday 11 p.m. CET. Options are to close nothing, hedge sideways through GBP/USD, or accept the Sunday-evening gap. If the gap is 1.8%, the gap is 1.8%.
JTX trader: opens the app at 9:48 a.m., sees the UK100-PERP orderbook already reflecting the news, and either trims the long or flips into a small short into the flow. Fill price is worse than midweek — the spread is wider, that's the deal — but the position is actually adjusted, not held hostage until Monday.
That's the entire product. Not magic. Not a better forecast. Just the ability to act.
Cross-margin ties it together
One USDT wallet, cross-margin, every instrument. That means a Saturday UK100-PERP short doesn't need a separate account or fresh collateral — it draws from the same pool as your equity longs, your crypto book, your forex positions. If you're carrying a long AAPL-PERP position into the weekend and macro turns, you can lay off broad equity beta on US30-PERP without unwinding the single-name view.
You can see the full universe of what that wallet can trade on /markets, including the other three indices — SPX500, US100 and GER40's Euro Stoxx-adjacent cousins — and the 292 other perpetuals sharing the same margin engine.
For prop traders
If you're running a funded challenge — Classic, Pro, Turbo, or One Rule — weekend index access changes the shape of what you can do. You're no longer forced to flatten European or US index exposure into the Friday bell to avoid a Sunday gap risk you can't manage. You can carry directional views through news windows and adjust as they develop. The risk rules don't change; the toolkit gets bigger.
The four indices are live now. Open the app, load up US30-PERP, GER40-PERP, FRA40-PERP or UK100-PERP, and trade the weekend that the rest of the market is sleeping through.
